Sanremo, the city of flowers and music, has the charm and vivacity of a typical seaside town embellished by its historical monuments, splendid villas, churches, and colors.

Sanremo is known worldwide for the Italian Song Festival, born in 1951 and hosted, until 1976, in the Casino.

The first Sanremo Festival saw three competitors competing to share 20 songs.

The winner was a former worker, Nilla Pizzi, but the event was snubbed and not considered worthy of the lustrous past of Sanremo and its Casino.

Located in an Art Nouveau building, the Casino is one of three Italian casinos in business since 1905.

The Ariston Theater is a must in the city of music, given that its stage has welcomed the Festival since 1976.

Near the Casino, we can visit the Russian Orthodox Church, an elegant Byzantine-style church built in 1912. Its peculiarity is the five domes with bright colors, typical of Russian architecture. Inside, a crypt holds the remains of the Montenegrin royalty.

Another city symbol is the Forte di Santa Tecla, built-in 1796 to control the rebel city of Sanremo...

The artillery was not directed toward the sea but towards the city. Today the structure is used for exhibitions and cultural initiatives.

Mimosa cake

What other dessert can better represent the Riviera dei fiori than the Torta Mimosa, the Sanremo dessert par excellence: sponge cake, liqueur, and custard, a delight for the palate.
