 10  WHAT IS THE GDPR

On May 25, 2018, the GDPR, acronym of General Data Protection Regulation, issued by European Union the April 27, 2016 and valid for all subjects of the Union or who operate in the EU without the need for any ratification by the individual states.

The GDPR it is a legislative instrument that serves to standardize privacy legislation at European level and replaces the d legislative decree 196/2003. The subjects required to comply are the following:

  1. Companies and organizations based in an EU country

  2. Companies and organizations that operate in a third country but have EU customers.

The aim is to increase the level of trust of Europeans in all subjects, private or public, who work daily with their personal, sensitive or confidential information. Any fines to offenders for the non-compliance with the GDPR they won't be immediate. It will start with a warning, then with a reprimand, then with a suspension of data processing, and in case of continued violation of the norm, only then fines could come.

The first obligation is to have one Privacy Policy, i.e. a document illustrating I How private data is treated. This information must be updated and contain:

  1. the purpose of the data processing

  2. the modality of this treatment

  3. third-party subjects who store, control and use this data through applications or technologies installed on sites such as Google, Facebook and other players in the sector

 11  TREATMENT OF PRIVACY OF GOOGLE AND FACEBOOK

Google is the largest internet player with Facebook and together they are the main custodians of the data processing of users who visit the various sites. Google has published a very extensive and detailed guide on his Privacy Policy and one of his updated version depending on GDPR. The management of our privacy is mainly done by accessing our personal account su Google. In particular in the section Privacy, we can control what Google knows about us and the log of our activities.

In Activity Management we can choose the activities that can be  saved in our Google account. It may or may not be savedChronology of the navigation on Chrome and on the sites and apps that use its services. Click on 1) Manage History to view the activity onChrome, Android or other device. Click on Change setting and move the cursor to prevent Google to keep track of our business.

In this context the  is particularly relevant Privacy control. It goes up It starts now to personalize our experience on Google. The first screen is about the Web and app activity and information will be displayed whether this setting is active or not. Google stores searches and other activities performed by logged in. It also stores activities such as apps you use, your Chrome history, and the sites you visit on the web. This setting allows a Google to give results faster by automatically completing searches, as well as to offer more efficient experiences in Maps, in the Assistant and other Google services.

The standards followed by Facebook in relation to the protection of privacy are summarized in page dedicated to GDPR. The principles that inspire it Facebook are those of transparency, control and reliability.

 12  ADVERTISING AND CUSTOMIZING ADSENSE ADS

Platform ads are shown on this site Google Adsense.With this platform you can manage or disable ads with tool Ads Settings and Disable Ads. The page opens Ad personalization, to control the information used by Google to show us more relevant ads when browsing for example on the Google search or up Youtube. We can check it or not It also uses Google Account data and activity, for customize ads in websites and apps that work as external collaborators of Google.

Even further down, our profile is shown, i.e. gender and age range. They can be viewed personalized ads according to our preferences even when we are not logged in with Google, with a special plugin for Chrome, for Firefox e for Internet Explorer.

Google it's just one of more than 100 ad networks  displaying personalized ads. You can disable it ad personalization di Google or any other ad network on page Your choices. Yes they can enable personalized ads for all companies or do it individually with controls On/Off. In the next months Google will make these options simpler and more understandable, and from May 25, 2018, a new  entered into force EU User Consent Policy.
