Its position has favored a glorious past of the village, which, built by the Lombards, was a possession of various noble families... #tuttitaly
In the province of Avellino, in the upper valley of the Sele River, stands the village of Quaglietta, a fraction of the municipality of Calabritto. This pretty town stands at an altitude of 500 m on the slopes of Monte Cervialto, on a rocky outcrop that dominates the entire Sele Valley.
Quaglietta's cobbled streets and stone portals characterize the village's historic center from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The most important monument is the castle. It has a quadrilateral plan structure with a somewhat irregular fourth side, and the feudal residence overlooks it. Due to the earthquake of 1980, the manor is reduced to ruins.
It is worth visiting the Papio Palace, which preserves the original 18th-century layout, and the imposing bell tower of the SS. Trinity, and the elegant Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli from the Byzantine era.
The population living in the village today counts 440 people.
