Village of Saturnia, hamlet of Manciano (GR) - Church of Santa Maria Maddalena - One of the oldest villages in Italy - Tuscany

In Tuscany there is one of the oldest villages in Italy, namely Saturnia, a corner of peace and tranquility.

Tourist attractions

Taking a walk through the streets of the village, you can rediscover the vestiges of Saturnia's glorious past, where the remains of the castle walls still stand, and the imposing silhouette of the Rocca Aldobrandesca stands out, of which the high crenelated tower stands out.

Among the religious buildings, the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena dates back to an era before 1188 (the year it is mentioned for the first time in official documents), but what we can see today is the result of a restoration in 1933.

In the center of the village is the Archaeological Museum of Saturnia, inaugurated in 2003.

The exhibits on display come mainly from the archaeological collection of the Ciacci family.

Saturnia is known for its thermal baths, comprising two sites: the Cascate del Mulino and the Thermal Complex "Hotel Terme di Saturnia Centro Benessere Spa and Golf Resort."
