Badiali Castle; a Castle and an Abbey ... #tuttitaly
The splendid Island of San Nicola of the Tremiti Islands archipelago is one of the two islands inhabited by the Island of San Domino. Of the five islands that make up the archipelago, they are the only ones with a port equipped for docking hydrofoils.
The island of San Nicola is much smaller than that of San Domino and has an elongated shape with large rocks and cliffs overlooking the sea that characterize it very much.
Angevin Castle still retains its ancient walls and some towers. On the top of the rocky walls, the marvelous Badiali Castle rises majestically.
The view from the castle is lovely; from up there, it is possible to admire Cretaccio Island, a vast clayey rock, and not far away, the larger San Domino. The reflections in the sea, from blue to intense blue, offer a very satisfying panorama.
The castle is presented in all its naturalness, and turning within its walls overlooking the sea gives you peace.
The second stage is unique; from the small port, you go up a flight of stairs and then through the only entrance door leading to the Castle.
On the island of San Nicola, you'll also find the municipal office that administers the archipelago of the Tremiti Islands.
A unique experience of the Tremiti remained indelible in my mind—an ideal place to reflect and search for yourself.
