Tremiti Islands- Capraia Island(FG)-Submerged statue of Padre Pio and the Architect- Gargano- Puglia

The island of Capraia, a jewel of the Tremiti archipelago, is surrounded by rich vegetation and is distinguished by its particularly scenic backdrops, which offer an unforgettable experience to divers.

Despite being the second largest island of the Diomedee archipelago, with its 1650 meters long and 600 meters wide, it is devoid of inhabitants. However, it abounds in caper plants, and the name Capraia was given to it by the Greeks around 1000 BC. for the numerous presence of wild goats.

The northern part of the coast is characterized by high cliffs overlooking the sea. On the other hand, we find gentle slopes to the south, which create shallows in the sea.

Along the island's perimeter, the coves are bordered by rock arches, the most famous of which is the Architiello, 6 meters high. The next cove houses the Grottone, 15 meters high and 10 meters long.

On the Cala Sorrentino, there is the Grotta dell'Amore. Here the atmosphere is magical, thanks to the reflection of the light that makes them take on warm and enveloping colors.

But one of the best-known beaches on the island is Cala Dei Turchi, bathed by always calm waters.

The scenic backdrops of the island are ideal for scuba diving. Here lie numerous wrecks, from Roman boats to the impact of one of the steamships used by Garibaldi during the Expedition of the Thousand.

In addition, in 1998, a few meters from the coast, the statue of San Pio was placed, created by a sculptor from Foggia. Being set on a backdrop of about ten meters, the figure is easily accessible.

However, one cannot fail to mention the Lighthouse. This is located in Punta Secca, a thin peninsula on the island's northeastern tip.
