Origin of the name

The name Favignana dates back to Roman times when sailors called it in honor of the warm wind coming from the west, the "Favonio."

Things to see

The beating heart of Favignana is its charming town center, full of restaurants, bars, and shops that preserve the flavors and traditions of the island. A tour starting from the picturesque harbor, still bustling with local fishermen, leads to discovering architectural treasures such as Villa Florio, an example of neo-Gothic elegance, and the striking Piazza Madrice with its Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Favignana is also an island rich in history and culture, with ancient tuna fisheries and underground gardens scattered throughout the territory. Protected as a nature reserve since 1991, the island maintains its wild beauty and typical Mediterranean vegetation, with sumac, carob, mastic, and oleander coloring the landscapes with vibrant shades.

Conclusions

Visiting Favignana means immersing oneself in a unique atmosphere, combining scenic beauty with sustainable tourism that respects nature.
