Tower Capo Malfatano - Teulada (SU) - Sardinia

The original name refers to a port used by the merchants of Amalfi; it was also called "Fortaleza de Marfattà" in 1593 or "Fortalessa de San Francisco de Marfattà" in 1595, while it currently takes its name from the locality of the same name... #tuttitaly

The Torre di Capo Malfatano is a Spanish tower presumably built in the years immediately following 1578.

The main functions of the tower were for sighting and control, with the military garrison equipped with cannons, guns, and rifles.

In 1764, about 400 Barbary people attacked the tower, 100 of whom were injured, thanks to the defense led by the then Alcadian Giovanni Battista Pinna.

In 1605, 1784, 1817, and 1823 various restoration interventions were carried out, necessary because of the incursions suffered and the effects of time on the structure.

The Capo Malfatano Tower is in visual contact with the other Towers of Piscinnì, Budello, and Porto Scudo.

The Tower is located near the edge of the peninsula, on a steep slope, and is inaccessible due to the lack of a connecting structure to the small opening at a high altitude.
