Taglio di Po is a town formed following the Taglio di Porto Viro, an important hydraulic work built in the Po Delta by the Republic of Venice.

Between 1600 and 1604, to preserve the Venetian Lagoon from silting caused by the enormous deposits of mud that the river Po discharged into the Adriatic, a "cut" was built to convey the floods to the sea through a short, linear, and distant channel from its shores.

This operation gave the town its name.

The territory of Taglio di Po, with an elongated shape, extends over the Island of Ariano, inside the Po Delta.

What to visit

Since 1872, the parish church of San Francesco, with its beautiful bell tower, has stood among the oldest religious buildings.

Just outside the center, in the locality of Cà Zen, the eighteenth-century Villa Zeno stands out, one of the most beautiful residences in the Delta.

Cà Vendramin houses the Regional Museum of Reclamation and the visitor center of the Veneto Regional Park of the Po Delta, whose presence helps to increase, year after year, the number of tourists attracted by the natural and wild charm of the area.
