Sogliano al Rubicone (FC) - Emilia Romagna

Sogliano al Rubicone was defined by Giovanni Pascoli as "a small, greatly loved town in Romagna." The poet, whose sisters stayed and studied there in the early twentieth century, was deeply attached to the place and dedicated several poems.

The toponym derives from "Fundus Solliani," and various findings testify to its ancient origins. A Fundus Solliani is mentioned in the 9th-century Bavaro Codex.

In the center of Sogliano al Rubicone, next to the civic tower, there is the Chiesa del Suffragio. The works began in 1671 on the initiative of the Compagnia del Suffragio, and the church was opened for worship on May 22, 1679.

In Palazzo Ripa - Marcosanti, there are some essential collections, two of which are made available to the public: on the first floor of the Palazzo, we find the priceless collection dedicated to the Vintage Disc; on the second floor, we see the exhibition devoted to Arte Povera.

The Museo di Arte Povera recounts aspects of real life from past times; the Museo del Disco d'Epoca tells the story of sound recording since 1857.

Gastronomy

Sogliano al Rubicone is known for producing cheese aged in ancient grain pits of Malatesta origin: Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano DOP.

Every year, in the last days of November, the town organizes the Fossa di Sogliano PDO Cheese Fair. For the occasion, theatrical, musical, and recreational performances are staged; moreover, it is possible to taste wines and typical products from the rest of Italy.
