Romans d'Isonzo, a small town in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, has its roots in Roman times.
The characteristic center was formed around his church.
The three nuclei that initially formed the community were unified in the Zenta, a walled villa around the church, demolished in the 1960s.
What to visit
The current parish church of Santa Maria Annunziata, built between 1699 and 1716, is flanked by a beautiful bell tower with a clock.
For almost three centuries, the elegant Villa del Torre has been resplendent in Romans d'Isonzo, property of the noble del Torre family. The Venetian villas of the 1700s inspired the building. Inside, it boasts numerous frescoes.
In front of the villa, the splendid park, which extends for
almost 6500 m², boasts secular trees.
Festivals
Every year, in mid-November, the Santa Elisabetta Fair takes place. Gastronomic stands offer dishes based on turkey, typical specialties, and Central European cuisine.
