Pracchia and Pontepetri, hamlets of Pistoia and San Marcello Piteglio (PT) - Tuscany

In these parts, switching from the Tuscan to the Emilian dialect is a moment... #tuttitaly

Pracchia and Pontepetri - Fractions of Pistoia and San Marcello Piteglio (PT) - Tuscany

Pracchia is a small village in the Municipality of Pistoia, which developed thanks to agricultural activities, pastoralism, and the construction of road links, such as the Bologna-Pistoia line, which increased the production and marketing of the area's primary goods.

After the Second World War, the inhabitants of Pracchia began to emigrate to the city.

In a total state of abandonment, some hotels were demolished, others transformed into private homes, while the former "Leyda" hotel was used as a retirement home.

The Sabatini Ironworks is worth a visit, which, after decades of inactivity, exhibits tools and utensils used in producing iron.

On August 10, the feast of San Lorenzo, the town's patron saint, takes place, and the Sagra dei Necci and Castagnaccio are set up for the occasion.

Nearby

4 km from Pracchia is Pontepetri, located at the confluence of the Maresca and Reno rivers. In 62 BC, the battle between Catilina's army and the Roman army occurred: Catilina died, and hers were thrown into the river.

On July 26, the town's patron saint is celebrated, and the Sagra del Tortello is set up for the occasion.
