Postignano - Frazione di Sellano (PG) - One of the most beautiful villages in Italy - Umbria

A few kilometers from Spoleto, the village Postignano rises on a slope, along the Argentina River and in the shadow of the Sibillini Mountains.

The territory is full of history and spirituality, as evidenced by the lives of the saints born there, including San Francesco and San Benedetto.

History tells us that in the 60s, the inhabitants abandoned the village to their fate because they had to go to other cities in search of a job, this being a suburban area.

Furthermore, the earthquakes destroyed the village.

In 2007, the Borgo returned to life thanks to restoration work until 2011, when it was inaugurated.

One of the first attractions is the Castle of Postignano, dating back to the 9th century. The Rocca, now a museum, allows you to admire a wide range of structural elements and objects of everyday use that belonged to the ancient nobles. The rooms will enable you to retrace the village's history, complete with details that convey the lifestyle of the people of that period.

If you love long and incredible walks in natural landscapes, you can take the path bordered by the Argentina River. You will be immersed in a unique and very emotional landscape. The whole area is natural and will offer you a feeling of calm and serenity.

You can also visit an entire area characterized by a series of structures that recall the different houses describing the medieval period of the village. In all, there are sixty houses, for whose reconstruction the period's architectural style has been respected. This gives the tourist the feeling of being back in time.

You can also explore shops that characterize much of the village and, thanks to the artisans who will behave like the ancestors who lived during that historical period, you will feel like you are back in the Middle Ages.

In the church, now a place of cultural, artistic, and entertainment events, the restorations have revealed frescoes of archaic beauty, including a 15th-century crucifixion that appeared behind a collapsed wall.
