Porto Sant'Elpidio is a seaside tourist resort appreciated for its beach and the pedestrian or cycle path along the seafront with the pine forest directly overlooking the shore.
The historic seaside village originated as a seaport of Sant'Elpidio a Mare and became a well-equipped seaside resort suitable for families with children. The 7 km long beach is covered with sand and gravel. There are perfectly equipped campsites along the coast, ideal for lovers of outdoor holidays.
What to see
In the square of the historic center, we can admire the sixteenth-century Clock Tower, with a square base, once used for sightings of sea and land.
We also enter the church of Maria Santissima Annunziata, built in the 11th century, where we can admire the beautiful works of local artists.
Among the noble villas, admire Villa Murri, a historic
residence built in the early nineteenth century by the Sinibaldi counts, and the splendid Villa Barrucchello, immersed in a magnificent park with rare tree essences.
The Tenna basin, called Paludi di San Marco, is attractive and suitable for observing various species of birds in late autumn and early spring.
Gastronomy
Among the gastronomic specialties not to be missed, we mention ciauscolo, olive oil, stuffed olives, Campofilone maccheroncini, Carpegna ham, and Fabriano salami.
