Peschici, Trabucchi and Torre di Monte Pucci (FG) - Gargano - Puglia

A fantastic place that will leave you truly amazed. We are still in Gargano, but this time we get off the boat and will explore this territory's beating heart. I started my journey in Gargano from the splendid town of Peschici, which stands on a cliff overlooking the sea.

The panoramic position is of rare beauty. Its white houses with the domed roof, the overhangs with the sun and its magical reflections, and the Trabucchi clinging to the coast with their ancient traditions - will leave an indelible memory in your mind. When you close your eyes, you will imagine you are still there.

Peschici is very touristy, a place to be experienced, with its unmissable views to be discovered, and with the many local craft shops. And above all, to taste its delicacies such as seafood appetizers (roasted, raw or salad), the fish soup called "ciambott" or the legendary "paposcia" a sandwich (like pizza) stuffed with cheese and grilled vegetables.

To make this stretch of coast one of the most picturesque in the Gargano is the work of the Trabucchi, some of which have been transformed into beautiful restaurants. In the historic center of Peschici, some small-scale models are also sold, faithfully built like the originals.

The Trabucchi has an essential function; they are still used today for fishing—an ingenious and ecological system of wooden platforms supported by large poles planted in the rock. From the wooden terraces, a series of long bars emerge horizontally connected with ropes and tie rods, to which nets are connected and lowered into the water to catch fish.

Near Peschici, relaxing on numerous beaches between the coastal bays is possible. One of the most beautiful is undoubtedly the Bay of Manaccora, sheltered by beautiful rocks and with wonderful sand.

The most suitable beach for children is undoubtedly La Baia di Peschici, located right at the foot of the town. This bay is famous for its white sand beach.

When you come to Peschici, go to the port and take an extra day to visit the Sea Caves, the ancient watchtowers, and the famous Trabucchi along the Gargano coast.
