In 1414, in the hamlet of San Martino in Soverzano, the imposing Castello dei Manzoli was built in a suggestive secular park. It is an imposing fortress commissioned by the Bolognese knight Bartolomeo Manzoli.
The building, equipped with four corner towers and a keep, is reflected in the moat surrounding it, which can be crossed via two drawbridges.
The castle is open a few times a year, and inside, you can admire critical sixteenth-century frescoes.
One of these events that allows visits inside and outside the walls of the fifteenth-century castle is the October Fair, which returns every year on the first weekend of October. The event becomes a beautiful exhibition of markets with handicrafts, plants and many gastronomic specialties.
In fact, here it will be possible to taste many typical dishes of the area such as; seasoned polenta, cotechino with purée, sausage, coppone, country-style ribs, stewed wild boar, friggione, hunchbacks with Bolognese sauce, bean soup, farmer's bean stew.
