Ghenna 'e Silana Pass (Ogliastra-Supramonte) - Urzulei (NU) - Sardinia

The Genna Silana Pass is located in the geographical region called Supramonte, characterized by mountainous plateaus.

The Pass is located in the province of Nuoro (Municipality of Urzulei), 1010 meters above sea level, in a border area between Dorgali and Baunei.

This area is very popular with tourists during the summer. Nevertheless, we were lucky not to encounter a lot of traffic and to enjoy a unique landscape, rich in vegetation typical of the Mediterranean scrub, which changes colors according to the season.

You must be careful in the corners, even if they are not dangerous. But above all, we must pay attention to the presence, in area, of animals in the wild that can suddenly appear on the roadway.

Arriving at the top of the Genna Silana Pass, we left the car near an abandoned Casa Cantoniera. There is also a bar where you can stop for a coffee or taste some delicious Sardinian specialties.

Attractions

From the Pass, you can enjoy a splendid view of the Gorropu Gorges, which can be reached by walking along a path. This is a canyon, one of the deepest in all of Europe, which arises from the intense erosive activity of the Flumineddu River that flows right inside it. The path is quite challenging but still a good experience, especially for trekking lovers.

Also, from the Pass, you can reach the sea, heading towards Cala Fuili, from which a path leads to the beach of Cala Luna, which awaits you with its crystalline sea and natural caves where you can relax. Not far from Cala Luna is Cala Goloritzè. Here you will be fascinated to see a heavenly sea and white pebble sand, which make the landscape one of the most photographed symbols of the island.
