The historic center
The historic center of Gatteo is about 10 km away from Gatteo a Mare.
The city, born in medieval times with the name of Fundus Catei, is the seat of a critical Malatesta castle from the 13th century.
Among the religious buildings: are the Parish Church of San Lorenzo Martire, of late thirteenth-century origin, and the Oratory of San Rocco (1484). The latter preserves valuable seventeenth-century frescoes.

Gastronomy
