Falconara Marittima overlooks the Gulf of Ancona, a city with which it forms a single urban agglomeration, so much so that the coastal districts of Palombina Vecchia (Falconara) and Palombina Nuova (Ancona) are contiguous. It extends entirely along the coast of the Adriatic Sea and boasts a long sandy beach frequented in summer by many young people and families.
According to tradition, "Falconara" is linked to falconry, which still animates many events inside the fortress.
There are four castles in Falconara Marittima:
- The Castle of Falconara Alta, the work of the Cortesi Counts. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, an elegant noble residence; today seat of the Town Hall and the Museum of the Resistance.
- The fortress of Rocca Priora dates back to the time of the birth of Frederick II of Swabia. It served as a garrison in defense of the coast, a warehouse for grain, and a home for the settlers.
- The Manor of Castelferretti, raised by Francesco
Ferretti, near the small church of Santa Maria Della Misericordia, with valuable 15th-century frescoes.
- The castle of Barcaglione, 204 m above sea level, of which practically nothing remains since it was demolished in 1373.
As for the natural areas near Falconara Marittima, we find Falconara Zoo Park and Cormorant Park.
The latter has a cycle path of about 6 km and two lakes for sport fishing.
