Domus de Maria is the ideal destination for those who want to spend a dream vacation in Southern Sardinia.
The town, built in the eighteenth century, is characterized by a vastness of natural beauty, from the beaches of Chia to the green mountains.
Tourist attractions
The Chia Tower, 13 m high, was built in 1578 to defend the mouth of the Rio di Chia.
It is part of the complex of coastal towers of Spanish origin and remained in operation until the 20th century.
The tower leads to a long sandy expanse interspersed with small promontories and lapped by the emerald green sea.
On the hill where the Chia Tower stands, the Phoenician-Punic center of Bithia thrived, known for the findings, in the area, of the necropolis and the tophet.
The reserve of Is Cannonerisi, one of the most extensive holm oak forests in Europe, is crossed by trekking paths, and inside, you can find Sardinian deer and fallow deer; while in flight, you can spot golden eagles and falcons pilgrim.
Typical product
Among the traditional products, we find the peretta, a particular Sardinian provola which, in the typical recipe of Chia, is blended with wine vinegar.
