Who looks out from the windows of Collianello has a jolt of domination; from here, in fact, it is possible to see as far as distant countries such as Postiglione and beyond; if there were the sea, it would have nothing to envy to the famous coastal villages... #tuttitaly
At the foot of Monte Marzano stands the medieval village of Collianello, a hamlet of Colliano.
The village developed on a rock when people sought refuge at the highest points to escape possible raids.
Even today, we can identify traces of the entrance doors to the village.
Going up the narrow steps of the ancient citadel, you come across numerous buildings of historical and religious interest. Among these is the Norman Castle, dating back to the 11th century.
The various houses and commercial premises developed
right around the fortress, of which we can admire today's walls and towers. From the castle's buildings, enjoying a spectacular view of the Sele Valley is possible.
