As a modeling enthusiast, seeing the Chiusa village live after making it in miniature was a real thrill.
The medieval village is dominated by the Rocca di Sabiona with the convent of the same name, one of the first pilgrimage destinations in Tyrol.
Several centuries ago, Chiusa was the scene of a lively
artistic life, and the great master Albrecht Dürer stayed there during his trip to Italy in 1494.
The village was the background for the portrait "Das große Glück," which the artist painted from a particularly panoramic point; since then, Chiusa has been known as the “town of Dürer.”
In 2002, Chiusa became one of the most beautiful villages in Italy with its crenelated facades, narrow alleys, expansive bay windows, and the inn crests.
Starting from Piazza Tinne, following path 1, it is possible to walk from Chiusa to the monastery of Sabiona, which overlooks the medieval town.
Gastronomy
One of the local specialties is vitello tonnato, which in Chiusa is served as an appetizer.
