Cesenatico was founded in the Middle Ages as the Port of Cesena: work began on September 9, 1303, and ended with the construction of a castle to guard the harbor (destroyed during World War II). In 1502, Leonardo da Vinci designed the Porto Canale, which remains the town's pride and joy. Cesenatico is an ancient fishing village located between Ravenna and Rimini. The town is characterized by a soft sandy beach sloping down to the sea with its well-equipped establishments and by the hinterland with two large parks.
