To make the whole coast even more interesting, in all its beauty and facets, is the presence of numerous karst caves created over millions of years by the corrosive action of the sea.

About thirty spectacular caves, to which the imagination and imagination of man have given rather unusual names. Almost all of them can be visited from the sea.

The Adriatic side, with the eastern caves, offers the most beautiful landscape, with rocky cavities overlooking the intense blue of the sea. Behind the port, we meet the Cazzafri caves, three holes that coincide with the terminal works of the Apulian aqueduct, then the cave of lovers or Morigio.

After Punta Meliso, the gaze is captured by the three coves of Terradico, by the cave of Porrano, Verdusella, and dell'Ortocupo with the grotta del soffio, where you can enter with a short dive.

Continuing, we meet the majestic Grotta della Vora, 25 meters high and over 40 meters long, followed by the Giuncacchia cave and the Mannute complex, a series of extravagantly shaped caves.

From the west side, you can visit, only from the sea, the Grotta del Cerchio, the Grotta di Mesciu Scianni, the Grotta del Fiume, del Presepe, di Titti, the Grotta Tre Porte, dei Giganti, della Stalla, and the Grotta del Drago. The latter can be visited from the sea and land.

In addition, the Porcinara Cave, which was a sanctuary, was a must for sailors from Greece.

The Grotta del Diavolo, 15 meters high and 30 deep, is of particular paleontological interest due to the finds discovered.

In general, to better admire the beauty of the Caves and the variety of colors that the waters take on, it is preferable to visit those located to the east with the morning light and those found to the west in the afternoon because the effect of light refractions is much more intense and suggestive.
