The Borgo, together with its hamlets, is considered the pearl of the province of Modena. A territory full of emotions to make every moment an unforgettable memory... #tuttitaly
Castelvetro di Modena stands out for its six towers, the checkerboard square, for being the most critical center of Emilian enology.
What to see
Castelvetro can be accessed via Cialdini. Walking along it, you arrive at the Torre delle Prigioni, built in the second half of the 16th century.
The tower, more than 20 m high, was initially used as a prison; on its walls, the writings left by the prisoners in ancient times are still visible.
The black and white chessboard is on the pavement of the
village's central square, Piazza Roma, where in September, in even years, the historical re-enactment of the Living Lady is held.
The Clock Tower, a part of the ancient fortification of the village of Castelvetro di Modena, dominates the square.
Along via Torquato Tasso, we meet the Parish Church,
built in 1897. The church is distinguished by its 48.5 m high bell tower.
Another important building is Palazzo Rangoni, which in 1564 housed the poet Torquato Tasso, then a student. The permanent exhibition of vintage clothes, Golden Threads at the Palace, was set up in the palace: Renaissance-style clothes, organized by the Associazione Dama Vivente.
Grape and Lambrusco Grasparossa festival
In September, during the harvest, the grapes and the typical wine of the territory are celebrated, Lambrusco Grasparossa: full-bodied and savory wine, which goes well with the specific products of the Modena area, such as tortellini, tigelle, zampone, etc.
