This splendid village still retains its medieval appearance, and taking a walk through its narrow streets is a real journey through time... #tuttitaly
Bobbio is a small medieval village in the province of Piacenza, famous for the long bridge over the Trebbia River, which connects the city with the road that leads to Piacenza: the Devil's Bridge.
The bridge, of Roman origin, is made up of 11 extended irregular arches. Legend has it that the bridge was built with this appearance by the devil himself to scare the monks of the San Colombano monastery and prevent them from crossing the river.
St. Colombano
The small village acquires historical importance starting from the settlement of San Colombano and its monks at the beginning of 600 AD.
The Irish monk founded a monastery that quickly developed one of the most important and prestigious libraries in all of Christianity.
The interior of the abbey is small and frescoed. Under the church, you can visit the crypt of the saint.
Leaning against the Abbey is the City Museum, which traces the constitution of the current urban center around the monastery over more than 1000 years.
In the Museum of the Opera of the fifteenth-century

A network of cobblestone streets and noble palaces characterizes the historic center of Bobbio.
During the fourteenth century, in the center of the village, the Malaspina Castle was built as a stronghold of the Guelphs.
It is possible to admire the splendid panorama of Trebbia Valley from the tower.
