Bistagno and the fraction of Roncogennaro (AL) - Piedmont

Bistagno is an unforgettable destination characterized by its Castle and the surrounding nature.

The village was founded in 1253 by the bishop of the Diocese of Aqui to oppose the power of the Marquises of Ponti and Ponzone.

The Castle, from which you have a 360 ° view over the entire town, was created at the behest of Bishop Enrico in 1253. The walls were interspersed with six towers, making it impossible to approach them.

Only the highest of the six remains intact; the others have been destroyed over the centuries.

On the ground floor of the Bistagno Castle, there is a vast dark and deep well, probably once used for dark functions, typical of the Middle Ages.

For nature lovers, the Municipality has organized, in collaboration with the C.A.I., a walk in the area's hills.

The path, called "Tour of the two bricchi," through woods and vineyards, can be covered for about 15 km on foot, by mountain bike, or by horseback. The path is paid, and the proceeds are donated to the World-Friends Association, whose goal is to carry out interventions to improve the poorest areas, both in Italy and Kenya.
