Voghera (PV) - Cathedral of San Lorenzo - Lombardy

Voghera is an essential industrial and wine center in Lombardy, built on the banks of the Staffora stream. Its historic center is characterized by buildings of historical interest, such as churches and palaces that witness the glorious past of the village.

Tourist attractions

Piazza Duomo represents the heart of the city and overlooks it: the Cathedral, Palazzo Gounela (town hall), and Casa Nava.

The Cathedral, dedicated to San Lorenzo, is the largest and most important religious monument in Voghera. Its construction dates back to 1605, and the Holy Thorn is kept, a wooden fragment attributed to the crown of thorns worn by Jesus.

Palazzo Gounela, from the 19th century, is presented in a neoclassical style and preserves inside a fresco depicting the ceremony of proclamation of Voghera as a city.

Casa Nava has a valuable entrance with the typical characteristics of the ancient porticoes of Voghera.

The Castello Visconteo, dating back to 1372, overlooks Piazza della Liberazione. Inside are frescoes of great value depicting the Madonna with Child and Muses.

In the "Giuseppe Beccari" Historical Museum, you can observe, among the various relics, the weapon that killed Benito Mussolini.

3.5 km south of the center, there is a western-themed amusement park based on the life of cowboys and the Wild West. The park has a restaurant, a hotel, and a shop.

Dessert

Don't miss the tasty Zuppa Vogherese, a dessert made with sponge cake, soaked and filled with cream, cream, and coffee and covered with custard.
