In addition to being an important fishing and tourist resource, Lake Viverone is an important archaeological site of prehistoric finds from the Bronze Age... #tuttitaly
With an area of 5.72 square km, Lake Viverone is the third largest lake in Piedmont. Of glacial origin, it is located between the extreme northeastern part of the Canavese and the powerful southern part of the Biellese. It is fed not only by underground waters but also by some small tributaries, and its outlet is the Roggia Fola.
Fola refers to the rumor that the watercourse would occasionally reverse the direction of its water flow, transforming itself from emissary to tributary. This phenomenon was denied by a study by the ARPA-Piedmont, which constantly detected outgoing flows from the lake.
Lake Viverone is a vital fishing and tourist resource and an archaeological site of prehistoric finds from the Bronze Age.
The lake's maximum depth is 50 m, the length is 3470 m, and the entire width is 2550 m. Its total perimeter of 13.06 km, however, is not entirely passable.
As it is very wild, the southwestern part is interrupted. Instead, the northern and eastern part is more urbanized, with a more significant presence of varied tourism and of services made available to this.
