Villa Smeraldi - the Park - Museum of Rural Life - Bentivoglio (BO) - Emilia Romagna

Villa Smeraldi is located in San Marino di Bentivoglio in the heart of an English-style historic park, built in the second half of the 19th century.

The park looks like a patch of vegetation that stands out in the area's agricultural landscape. It is the romantic "English" garden wanted by the Zucchini Counts.

Its canons included an irregular arrangement of trees and shrubs, slopes and differences in height, paths, hedges, fake ruins, statues, and a body of water.

Since 1973, Villa Smeraldi has housed the Museum of Rural Life: over 2000 square meters of exhibition and 4 hectares of park tell the story of work and life in the countryside between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The section dedicated to hemp is the most important in Italy.

The museum's collections come from farmers who donated over 10,000 objects relating to work and life in the Bolognese and Emilian countryside between 1750 and 1950.
