It has known a very eventful history, but it is a city that also has a lot to offer: Not only monuments, palaces, and castles rich in history but also a relaxing atmosphere, culture, and gastronomic specialties to taste... #tuttitaly
Trento is a jewel of Trentino-Alto Adige, known for the elegance of its historical buildings decorated with Renaissance frescoes of great interest.
The visit to the city begins in Piazza Duomo, overlooked by the Cathedral dedicated to San Vigilio, dating back to the XIII century. Inside, in 1563 the decrees of the Council of Trent were promulgated. You can learn more about this topic by visiting the Diocesan Museum in the Palazzo Pretorio, next to the Civic Tower.
In the heart of the historic center stands the Castello del Buonconsiglio, once the seat of the prince-bishops, now home to museums and temporary exhibitions.
Also worth a visit is the MUSE, one of Europe's most significant science museums.
About a 15-minute walk from Piazza Duomo, crossing the bridge over the Adige River, you can reach the Galleries, where photographic exhibitions, multimedia installations, and cultural events are set up.
On the Doss Trento, one of the three hills on which the city stands is the Mausoleum of Cesare Battisti: 16 marble columns 14 m high on a circular base. The hill also houses the Museo degli Alpini, next to which you can see the remains of an ancient early Christian church from the 4th century.
If you are looking for a panoramic point behind the Trento railway station, a cable car takes you to the hamlet of Sardagna.
From here you can enjoy a splendid view of the city.
