On the promontory, guarding the bay stands the imposing tower of Porto Giunco, nine meters high, a seventeenth-century 'memory' built by the Spaniards to spot pirate attacks from the sea. From up there, you will enjoy a dazzling 'picture'... #tuttitaly
On the promontory of Capo Carbonara, in the territory of Villasimius, stands the imposing Tower of Porto Giunco, a seventeenth-century memorial erected by the Spaniards to spot pirate attacks from the sea.
The tower can be reached on foot from the cove of Porto Giunco , following a path that winds through the Mediterranean scrub.
From about 50 m above sea level, the tower guards the beach below and the Notteri pond.
From its position and 9 m height, this tower communicated with the others through lights and signals.
