Sassi of Roccamalatina Park - Carbonaia- Source and Mill of shore- Guiglia (MO) - Emilia Romagna

The Sassi di Roccamalatina Regional Park is a protected area of 2300 ha on the right side of the Panaro River valley.

The park is characterized by three rocky peaks called "Sassi," whose vertical walls are the nesting site of the peregrine falcon and kestrel.

Ancient chestnut groves, woods, cultivated fields, and a vast biodiversity of habitats with varied flora and numerous fauna species add value to the area.

Various itineraries allow the exploration of the site.

We have followed a path that winds around the Rio Vallecchie Valley, where the stones are the protagonists of the landscape.

From the car park between Pieve di Trebbio and the "Il Fontanazzo" Park Center, we followed the route to Borgo dei Sassi: an itinerary rich in biodiversity between flora and fauna.

At the beginning of spring, you can see expanses of white bellflowers in the wettest spots. The orchids, lilies, and autumn cyclamen are beautiful.

In flight, you meet ghettos, sparrowhawks, and vultures, while at dusk, roe deer, foxes, and porcupines come out into the open.

The park also has a Carbonaia with billboards describing how the wood was transformed into charcoal.

Further details on the Sassi di Roccamalatina Park are given on the site: parcoemiliacentrale.it.
