The blue of the sea contrasted with the white of the houses ... thanks to a Count's dream...#tuttitaly
Porto Rafael is a pearl of the north of Sardinia, a small village near Palau, not far from the Costa Smeralda, that tells a fascinating story that starts from a count's dream: to see a town by the sea with a square for partying.
The history of Porto Rafael is due to a visionary and dreamer count. A legend hovers around the birth of the village: it is said that the town was born after a night vision of the Count, who has not stopped thinking about how to make his work of art since that day.
Who was this Spanish count so fond of beauty? Rafael Neville was born in 1926 in Malaga; his premonitory dream made him admire a beach with houses around it, wild and unspoiled nature, and refined architecture. He sees Sardinia in that dream.
Before buying the land that would become Porto Rafael, Neville made several friends on the Costa Smeralda, especially in La Maddalena. He meets several landowners who take him to visit Nelson's Bay. It's love at first sight.
Count Rafael Neville then decides to make that dream come true and chooses this area near Palau. The land was purchased at two million per hectare, and in a short time, it became the home of nobles and famous people eager to experience the Sardinian dolce vita.
