The island has been inhabited for over thirty years by a single person, Mauro Morandi from Modena... #tuttitaly
The Budelli Island, a natural spectacle with a pink color, attracts tourists every year who admire it from the nearby Spiaggia del Cavaliere, from which they can enjoy a breathtaking view of a splendid sea with wild vegetation behind it.
It falls within the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, an authentic natural oasis where you can find peace and unspoiled nature, and a single person inhabits it. Mauro Morandi from Modena has been its custodian for over thirty years and has continued to care for it even after he stopped receiving his salary.
The island occupies an area of just 1.6 km2, and Monte Budello represents the highest point. Positioning yourself on it, you can admire an enchanting view of the blue sea with crystal clear water and the pink beach.
It was precisely the color that made it famous all over the world. This is formed thanks to a small single-celled living being, Miniacina menace, which lives among the Posidonia a short distance from the sea. When these microorganisms die, the shells are dragged to the shore, breaking up thanks to the action of the waves and various atmospheric agents.
This wonder is priceless and is a precious asset of the Archipelago National Park.
