Santena (TO) - Piedmont

It is famous not only for asparagus but also for being the seat of the tomb of Camillo Benso, known simply as the Count of Cavour... #tuttitaly

Santena, a town in the province of Turin, is located a few kilometers from the right bank of the river Po and is 51 km from the closest "Turin-Caselle" airport.

What Santena is known for

Santena is famous not only for its asparagus but also for having long been the residence of the Benso family, future counts of Cavour.

The leading figure of the Italian Risorgimento, Camillo Benso, known as the Count of Cavour, was buried in this place.

What to see

The Cavourian Complex, one of the greatest heritages in the history of our country, unites respectable realities: the castle (built between 1712 and 1720), the tomb of Cavour, the Cavourian museum, and the park.

The tomb with Camillo Benso di Cavour's remains is in the Castellare chapel's crypt.

The complex is surrounded by 23 hectares of parkland, represented by secular trees.

The eighteenth-century Parish Church of the Holy

Apostles Peter and Paul is worth a visit, within which precious marbles stand out in various elements: the apse, the high altar, and the canopy.

Typical product

In May, the Asparagus Festival is set up, a typical product of the area, recognized in 1999 as a Traditional Agri-Food Product (PAT), excellence of agriculture, and Italian Piedmontese cuisine.
