The Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin rises in Castelmonte, 618 m above sea level, close to the Julian Alps.
Over the centuries, Castelmonte was fortified and enlarged until it became a village, which can be accessed from a single door.
Many faithful reach the Sanctuary on foot along a road dotted with 15 aedicules representing the mysteries of the Rosary.
