The "Queen" who holds the world in her hands and guards it, with a unique and enchanting view of Lake Garda... #tuttitaly
Regina Mundi is one of the works of the heart of Silvio Bottes, a Franciscan sculptor. He created this imposing stone statue 4.5 meters high and placed it in Pregasina on a mountain terrace overlooking Lake Garda. The point from which we can admire a magnificent panorama.
"Queen because she guards the whole world: this is why she holds it in her hand, but she collaborates in the Salvation brought to us by the Son, and, on top of the world, there is the Cross." When he talks about Mary, his eyes light up. In an interview published in the Catalog, he states: "It is too big, almost an Eternal Father in a female version!"
The female subject recurs frequently.
Brother Silvio, before being an artist, was a humble Franciscan who dedicated his life to the Lord and led us to him through the works he left us as a legacy.
Speaking of the Statue on Lake Garda, with lovely eyes despite the stone, he adds: “It could not be given another title. We cannot limit Mary within any perimeter—a no-nonsense Queen. I deliberately left aside all romanticism, not even a curl of hair ... it would have been superfluous. Mary Queen is essential in her simplicity and refers to the Cross that saved the world.”
