Ponte Vecchio (Ponte degli Alpini) - Poli Grappa Museum - Bassano del Grappa (VI) - Veneto

The Ponte degli Alpini, located in the heart of Bassano del Grappa, is a must-visit place for tourists exploring the city. Surrounded by picturesque, colorful houses and crossed by the waters of the Brenta River, this bridge has a fascinating history. Built in the distant year of 1209, it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The current structure, made of wood and covered, follows the design of the renowned architect Andrea Palladio from 1569, famous for his magnificent Venetian villas.

The bridge underwent significant restoration after the devastating Brenta River flood in 1966. The National Association of Alpini carried out the latest renovations, from which it derives its unofficial name, Ponte degli Alpini. However, the official name would be Ponte Vecchio.
