The Cerreto pass (1 261 m) is a pass in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines that separates Tuscany from Emilia and the province of Massa-Carrara from that of Reggio Emilia... #tuttitaly
Passo del Cerreto is divided between the territory of Fivizzano, in the province of Massa-Carrara, and that of Ventasso, in the area of Reggio Emilia, and is located within the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park.
Like Monte La Nuda and Cima Belfiore, the pass has been classified as a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area.
The Cerreto pass, which with its 1261 meters is the highest in its area, has been traveled, since ancient times, by people who had to travel from the sea to the Po valley and vice versa.
In the twentieth century, the road was paved and adapted to the needs of the new means of locomotion and public transport.
In addition to the breathtaking views, along the way, we find an abundant offer of the culinary excellence of the area, including balsamic vinegar, Parmigiano-Reggiano, gnocco, and tigelle.
There is, therefore, no shortage of opportunities for breaks, snacks, and lunches.
Among the beauties to admire, we find the Pietra di Bismantova, a gigantic rectangular rocky promontory lying on the hills of the Apennines, which, over time, has become a destination for climbers and hikers.
