The Pieve di San Giorgio, dating back to 569, is one of the oldest churches in Emilia-Romagna.
The parish church was built at the behest of the archbishop of Ravenna Sant'Agnello and is located within a park near the Campotto Oasis. This area falls within the Po delta regional park.
The church was born with a single hall structure embellished with a mosaic-decorated floor and a baptismal font.
Throughout its history, it has been abandoned and remodeled several times.
In 1122, two aisles were added, later demolished.
Today we can observe the marble portal, the work of Giovanni da Modigliana, with an iconography linked to the history of the martyrdom of Saint George and reliefs depicting the 12 months.
The numerous artifacts found during the archaeological excavations carried out in the perimeter of the building, dating back to the 6th century to the 17th century, are kept in the Civic Museum of Argenta.
