The primary and active port of Lake Bolsena, it is a characteristic fishing village where time seems to have stopped... #tuttitaly
Marta is a characteristic fishing village built on the southern shore of Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Italy and one of the town's main attractions.
The village is dominated by the Clock Tower, which, according to tradition, was built with the remains of the ancient Bisenzio.
In the former Bishop's Palace, you can visit the permanent exhibition of prehistoric archeology, which exhibits artifacts found in the lake and the Marta River, dating back to the period from the Palaeolithic to the final Bronze Age.
During the walk along the avenue shaded by plane trees, you can see the small port and the small beaches that make Marta a perfect place for a holiday.
Gastronomy
The village of Marta is appreciated for its cuisine and good wine. You can taste fish-based dishes or the "scafata," a soup made with seasonal ingredients.
The typical red wine of the place is the Cannaiola, served together with locally produced dry sweets.
