Marina di Ravenna - Fraction of Ravenna (RA) - Galla Placidia Line and Bunker Tour - Emilia Romagna

Marina di Ravenna is located south of the Candiano Canal, which connects Ravenna with the Adriatic Sea.

A bit of history

At the mouth of the Candiano canal, on the east bank, was a fishing village called "Marina." After the First World War, this village became increasingly frequented by tourists, and in 1926 the Tourist and Tourist Board were born. In that period, the old town took the name of "Marina di Ravenna"; its beach Porto Corsini, a city on the opposite side, is one of the oldest.

In 1944, during the Second World War, Marina di Ravenna was hit by an aerial bombardment, in which the lighthouse, the aqueduct tower, the church, and several cases were shot down. In addition, the pier and the related oil plants were sunk.

After the Second World War, the reconstruction was rapid, and the economic development reached high peaks thanks to the promotion of the locality and the growing tourism. In 1993, one of the local bathing establishments started offering bathers half-price drinks the hour before dinner: thus, the Happy Hour fashion was born, which became the most awaited event of the day, significantly increasing Marina di Ravenna's notoriety.

Marina di Ravenna today

Marina di Ravenna is suitable for a dynamic and trendy location both for families and a younger audience. During the day, the beach is filled with umbrellas and sunbeds, while dances, concerts, and free events are organized in the evening.

Among the many experiences you can experience here, do not miss: a walk along the system of wooden walkways built to protect the coastal dunes; and the breakwater, a corridor in the middle of the sea of about 3 km, will allow you to relax and regenerate.

Activities

For sports lovers, the seaside resorts of Marina di Ravenna offer: beach volleyball, basketball, beach soccer, and beach tennis courts. In addition, the large pine forest behind the dunes is very popular with runners, cyclists, and sportspeople for long runs in the shade of the trees.

Local specialties

Among the many specialties to taste, the natural delicacy of the Adriatic is undoubtedly the Mussel of Marina, which proliferates a few kilometers from the Romagna coast and is celebrated every year at the beginning of summer.
