Maranello (MO) - Emilia Romagna

When discussing Maranello, we always specify that Ferrari was born here. What many do not know, however, is that Maranello was only the second choice of Enzo Ferrari, who initially would have preferred Formigine. But since he was denied permission to open his company in

Formigine, he had to use the land he already owned in Maranello.

According to a legend, the name Maranello was written for the first time on parchment in 1191 and derived from the word of Marano Arardini or Araldini, who would have built the first castle here on ancient foundations, adapting it to their needs. His family would thus have given the name to the place.

If you go to Maranello, visit the Ferrari Museum. But do not stop here because, in this city, we also find Mabic, the municipal library, which contains 44,000 volumes and is considered one of the most important in Europe.
