The innovative bridge is about 90m high and 88m long, which connects the edge of the ravine to the suggestive remains of the Norman Medieval Castle... #tuttitaly
The Tibetan Bridge gives us the thrill of walking suspended between two hills for almost 100 m, over 80 from the bottom of a stream.
You can admire beautiful landscapes from the bridge framed by the Vallone delle Conche. With the passage of
more pedestrians, the emotions increase because the bridge begins to vibrate. But there is nothing dangerous because sturdy steel cables still support it. The experience is highly subjective, but since my five-year-old wasn't afraid to walk it, I'd say it's an experience not to be missed.
Opened in 2015, the Tibetan bridge has become the natural attraction of Laviano for tourists and locals.
But there is not only the Tibetan bridge in Laviano. We also find the medieval castle, from which we can enjoy the view over the Sele Valley. From the moment the historic center was not rebuilt, the palace of Santa Maria Della Libera became one of the few testimonies of the ancient town, which was destroyed by the 1980 earthquake.
A contiguous area and the new settlement are different from the pre-existing one.
The castle was also severely damaged by the earthquake. However, in 2004, restoration work was started.
Today we can admire the trapezoidal perimeter with the corner towers, the moats and the entrance bridges, stone portals, elegant door and window frames, an internal courtyard with a stone wall, and different rooms on several levels.
Inside are information panels on the history, uses, and traditions of Laviano, a space dedicated to the projection of a documentary, a small exhibition of ancient tools, and a town model before the earthquake.
We can consider the Tibetan bridge a link between Laviano's past and future.
