Gradara and its Castle (PU) - One of the most beautiful villages in Italy - Marche

The Gradara Castle can be easily seen from the A14 motorway as a lookout on the border between the regions of the Marche and Emilia Romagna, on the ancient land of Montefeltro, full of splendid fortresses and bulwarks. The Gradara Castle is among these majestic fortresses and certainly one of the most beautiful.

Stop absolutely, and do not let it "escape"; it will leave you speechless. An authentic village, rich in gastronomic delicacies, with a Castle that excellently preserves its beautiful walls, among the most impressive in Italy with its 800 meters of extension.

The Rocca di Gradara and its Fortified Village are so in symbiosis with each other that they represent one of the best preserved medieval structures in the Marches and Italy.

The "Tagliolini con la Bomba" is the first typical dish of

the village, and their curious name derives from the effect of the hot oil that, when poured into the water, causes a great deal of steam.

This place is famous for one of the most beautiful love stories, that of Paolo and Francesca. The story of Paolo and Francesca would have remained one of the many bloody Middle Ages events had it not been elevated to the sky of poetry by Dante in the "Commedia." Thus was born the myth of the two unhappy lovers, on which the Italian artists from Boccaccio to D'Annunzio have embroidered. The two famous characters are today the symbol of pure and unconditional love. Go to Gradara to find out.
