Gaggio Montano, a small town in Emilia-Romagna, boasts the birth and development of two critical companies worldwide: Saeco and Caffitaly. The former produces coffee machines and vending machines for drinks and snacks worldwide; the second coffee machines, capsules, and related accessories.
Furthermore, since 2006, the territory has been home to the Italian company Piquadro, which produces bags and suitcases.
History
The findings of foundations of huts from the Bronze Age and tombs from the Villanovan Age confirmed the settlement on the territory in ancient times.
During the Second World War, German troops carried out various massacres against partisans and civilians in the area.
In 1952, in memory of the fall of the two world wars, the Lighthouse was built on the Sasso di Rocca.
In addition to being the country's symbol, it is also the only lighthouse in the mountains in Italy.
Visit the Church of Saints Michael the Archangel and Nazario, where it is possible to admire the altarpiece representing the Madonna and Child together with Saints Michael, Antonio Abate, and Nazario from the 17th century, and the frescoes in the dome depicting the Four Apparitions of the Archangel Michele, made in the 20th century.
