The highest museum in Europe at 2,181 meters, three the clouds of Mount Rite...
In 2009 the Dolomites were declared a #UNESCO World Heritage Site for the uniqueness and beauty of the landscape in which they are immersed... #tuttitaly
Monte Rite rises between Venas and Vodo di Cadore, a mountain in the Dolomites characterized by a dense forest.
We walked up the hill on an autumn day. As you climbed the mountain, you emerged more and more in the silence of nature. We took advantage of that moment to find the balance that, so often, the frenzy of everyday life makes us lose.
The climb was quite long, considering we were accompanied by little Kevin, who was only five years old, but the views given to us were priceless.
Arriving on the ridge, we found the remains of the fortifications built before the Great War. These were restored for the construction of the Museum in the Clouds on the initiative of the mountaineer Reinhold Messner.
The museum is the highest in Europe and is part of the Messner Museum circuit. There is an extensive gallery of paintings representing the Dolomites since Romanticism. You will also discover how rock climbing has evolved through a collection of objects and documents that belonged to great mountaineers. The museum is open from June to the end of September.
Adjacent to the museum is the Dolomites Refuge.
In the summer, a toll shuttle service connects the Museum and the Refuge to the Cibiana fork, where the Remauro Refuge is located and where we enjoyed a delicious dinner after a day in the mountains.
