The Val d’Orcia, a #UNESCO World Heritage Site, includes the historic centers and much of the territory of the municipalities of Castiglione d’Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani, San Quirico d’Orcia... #tuttitaly
In the Val d'Orcia, among the places that attract the most photographers, bloggers, and influencers, there is undoubtedly the cypress grove on the hills of San Quirico d'Orcia.
The Cypress, a naturalistic and landscape symbol not only of the Val d'Orcia but of the whole of Tuscany, is an ancient plant whose presence in these territories dates back to several centuries before Christ. It was particularly loved and revered also by Renaissance painters, who immortalized him in prestigious works.
This reverence has made the Cypress a characteristic element of the roads, property borders, farms, and hills of the Val d'Orcia.
The group of Cipressini in the middle of the bare hills of San Quirico d'Orcia has suggested all sorts of legends, even if its history is linked to the hunting "roccolo," or a grove created by hunters to attract birds.
This image evokes an unspoiled countryside, ancient traditions, serenity, and beauty.
To photograph them, I went to the middle of the grove, so by clicking on the link below to see the complete album, you will be able to see the Cipressini more closely, and who knows, maybe you will have the feeling of finding yourself amid this wonder too 😉
