The three pearls of this coast are: a crystalline sea awarded with the "Blue Flag" quality certification, 2 kilometers of soft and uninterrupted beach, and the possibility of sailing and windsurfing... #tuttitaly
Cupra Marittima is a small town overlooking the Adriatic coast of the lower Marche region in the province of Ascoli Piceno.
Inhabited since the Neolithic, the coast of Cupra Marittima has seen the succession of numerous rulers from the ancient Piceni, to the Romans, to the barbarians.
In the 1900s, the town saw a growth boom with holidaymakers' arrival and residential villas' construction.
The sea's proximity considerably mitigates Cupra Marittima's climate, which has mild winters and summers refreshed by the sea breeze.
The sandy beach extends for about 2 km and is characterized by enchanting scenery thanks to the hills in the immediate hinterland, which form a picturesque natural setting.
Going along some narrow streets uphill, you can reach the Borgo Antico lying on the hill overlooking the beach.
A well-preserved place to enjoy the sea breeze and magnificent views.
Cupra Marittima boasts the Piceno Malacological Museum, one of the most critical shell museums in the world. The structure collects around 900,000 specimens and evidence of primitive art linked to the world of shells.
Do not miss the Archaeological Park of Cupra Marittima, where the few visible structures allow you to guess the richness and vitality of the area.
The citadel was surrounded by walls from the Augustan
age, within which the remains of some sacred buildings can be seen.
On the table
Don't miss the stuffed olives: green olives in brine, stuffed inside with a tender meat-based mixture, a gastronomic specialty of the Ascoli area and one of the most representative dishes of the Piceno area.
